COVID-19 Telehealth Consultations

Queensgate Medical Centre is now able to provide telehealth consultations to eligible patients. Medicare rebates will be paid for services provided to:

  1. Patients that have been diagnosed with COVID-19 virus but who are not a patient of a hospital; or

  2. Patients that are isolating themselves in quarantine in accordance with home isolation guidance issued by Australian Health Protection Principal Committee; or

  3. Patients considered more susceptible to the COVID-19 virus being:

    • at least 70 years old, or

    • at least 50 years old or over if of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; or

    • pregnant; or

    • a parent of a child under 12 months; or

    • a person under treatment for chronic health conditions or who is immune compromised; or

  4. People that meet the current national triage protocol criteria for suspected COVID-19 infection.

 

In relation to services for patients more susceptible to the virus (option 3), they must have had at least one face to face attendance in the last 12 months with a Queensgate Medical Centre GP.

WELCOME DR YOSHEI TIEN

We would like to welcome Dr Yoshei Tien to our Queensgate Medical Centre team! Dr Tien will begin practice in our clinic on Monday the 24th of February. Our team of reception, nurses and doctors are very excited to welcome Dr Tien as a colleague.

Dr Yoshei Tien is a local graduate from UWA. She's previously worked in various hospitals in south metropolitan area before attaining her fellowship with Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019. She has also completed a postgraduate Diploma of Child Health from Westmead, Sydney.

 

Outside of work she enjoys traveling with her family. She believes in spending quality times with her two young boys.

 

Dr Tien is interested in all aspects of general practice, particularly paediatric, men and women's health, and family planning. She's qualified in Implanon and Mirena insertion and removal, as well as various medical procedures including venesection, iron infusion, skin lesions resection etc. As a Malaysian Chinese, Dr Tien can speak fluent Mandarin and dialects.

Coronavirus

What is the virus? Have I been exposed? What are the symptoms? How do I approach a health professional?

Update 3rd March: If you have been anywhere overseas and are experiencing cold/flu symptoms please alert reception prior to your appointment. Please see our appointment protocol below.

 

Update 4th Feb: If you have left, or transited through, mainland China on or after 1 February 2020 you must isolate yourself until 14 days after leaving China.

 

Australia is very closely monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus which was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China. Since that time, unfortunately the virus has reached many other parts of the world including Australia. The Coronavirus can be a deadly illness, if gone un-treated or late diagnosis, deaths currently occur in approximately 1 in every 50 cases.

 

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses. They cause illnesses that can range from the common cold to more severe diseases. The virus can cause a range of symptoms. Symptoms can range from mild illness to pneumonia. Affected people may experience:
- Fever
- Flu like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, ache in muscles and headaches
- Difficulty breathing

 

People who have been in contact with confirmed novel coronavirus cases must be isolated in their home for 14 days after exposure.
Returned travellers who have been in Hubei Province of China must be isolated in their home for 14 days after leaving Hubei Province other than for seeking individual medical care.

 

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms and are concerned, please visit your health professional immediately.

Specialist infectious diseases teams will isolate people with symptoms of coronavirus. They will also provide supportive medical care to treat any symptoms.

 

Queensgate Patients:
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, please CALL AHEAD and let our receptionists know so you can speak to one of our nurses and allow our team to prepare.
We will ask you to please not enter our practice, instead we will ask you to please wait in your car until our nurses and doctors are ready to see you.
Once you are ready to be seen, reception will call and let you know to please come in through our back nursing door to our isolation room.
Please DO NOT enter through our reception as you will be potentially exposing other patients.
Our team will then completely sterilize all affected areas.

 

If you have returned from China or been in direct contact with a confirmed case and are showing these symptoms, please DO NOT book an appointment at Queensgate. Please direct yourself to your nearest emergency department so you can be isolated and given treatment.
