15-19 Year Old Meningococcal ACWY Vaccine Now at Queensgate Medical Centre

We are pleased to say we now have the Meningococcal ACWY 15-19 Year Old (Nimenrix) Vaccine at Queensgate Medical Centre. Nimenrix is a vaccine used to help meningococcal disease caused by four types of Neisseria meningitides bacteria (types A,C,W and Y).

The most common types of meningococcal disease are meningitis which is an infection of a lining around the brain and spinal cord and septicaemia which is a blood infection. Meningococcal disease is spread by small droplets from the nose, mouth or throat. Meningococcal disease is most often serious and sometimes causes long term effects (eg deafness, memory problems, loss of fingers or toes), or death and is generally more common in young people and children.

Here at Queensgate we urge teenagers between 15-19 years old to come come in and have their vaccine by one of our nurses and doctors to prevent any chance of the infection as much as possible.

Meningococcal ACWY is a free vaccine so any teenager coming to have it will be bulk billed for their visit!

Although GPs are only being supplied this vaccine until December so please if you or your child are aged between 15-19 years old book an appointment with us and receive this vaccine asap!
